My Autobiography: why I decided to write it
The decision to write my autobiography turned out to be an exciting experience! No matter whether your life has been easy or hard, there is always something that you can capture in your autobiography.
Writing My Autobiography
My autobiography was written because I felt that I had enough trials and tribulations to make an interesting story. Autobiography books are wonderful to write because unless you are famous, there is really no other way to keep your life’s story intact for the world to read.
Famous writers, however, may want to write their own autobiography book to squelch any damaging rumors or to defend oneself against an unauthorized biography that may have been written without prior knowledge. No matter what your situation, it’s always a good idea to get your life down in writing.
Why write an autobiography?
There are many reasons to write an autobiography. The best way to write an autobiography is to write it because you want to, which is how I wrote my autobiography. You may want to share your life’s experiences with the world, or perhaps just your family and friends will enjoy it. I know my family enjoyed my autobiography! You may simply just like to write, and wish to have your life down on paper.
Many people choose to write an autobiography. I choose to write my autobiography because I want to have something to give to my grandchildren. However, there are sports autobiographies, scientific autobiographies, autobiographical poems and much more that people choose to write.
Beginners writing
Writing an autobiography can be accomplished by first reading other autobiographies to get the feel of them and how they are written. New writers especially need to get the hang of simply writing before starting on a book themselves. You can get many tips and tricks to make your story as interesting as possible and appealing to your audience.
Speaking of your audience, when I was writing my autobiography I had to stop and think about who I intended it for. Writing for yourself can be easy- you can rant and rave, ignore grammar and spelling errors, and do and say pretty much whatever you want. Writing for an audience that you wish will read your autobiography is different. You will have to be more careful with your writing and pay closer attention to grammar and spelling.
Preserve your Autobiography
When I wrote my autobiography, I made sure that I took the time to preserve my work. You should always have a copy that is in a safe place, such as from a fire, flood or other kind of damage. This can be accomplished by keeping one in a safe deposit box, either in your own home or outside of it, possibly in a bank. I wanted to make sure that my autobiography would always be intact, as it is a lot of work to have accidentally ruined or disappear.
When you are writing your story on the computer, it is especially important to make sure that your story is backed up. Don’t just leave it in your documents; make sure it is saved to a hard drive or a CD. Of course, if you plan on publishing your autobiography, then you will definitely have enough copies that you won’t have to worry!
Writing my life story was one of the best things I have ever done. I’m glad that I wrote my autobiography, and you certainly will be, too!
